A Classic 31-mm Watch
The Datejust 31 has been part of the Rolex catalog since the late 1950s. It features the same design as the 36-mm original, but is particularly popular with women thanks to its relatively small diameter of 31 mm.
The watch features the Rolex-typical Oyster case with a screw-down crown, which makes it water-resistant to 100 m (10 bar, 328 ft). The watch is powered by a reliable in-house caliber that, like all movements from Rolex, is a certified superlative chronometer. Since 2019, Rolex has been equipping the Datejust 31 with the caliber 2236, which features an anti-magnetic Syloxi hairspring and Rolex's patented Paraflex shock protection.
Rolex Datejust 31: Material and Dial Options
The Datejust 31 is available in a wide range of variants, including stainless steel and two-tone models, as well as versions made entirely of rose, yellow, or white gold, with a choice of polished, fluted, or diamond-encrusted bezels.
Bracelet options for stainless steel and two-tone Datejust 31 models include the traditional Jubilee bracelet or the Oyster bracelet made famous by the Rolex Submariner. Rolex offers the gold Datejust 31 with the President bracelet, which is otherwise reserved exclusively for the Rolex Day-Date.
There is no shortage of dial options for the Datejust 31. If you like a more traditional look, you can choose from white, silver, gold, or slate gray sunburst dials. If you'd prefer a watch with a little more pizzazz, there are green, pink, blue, purple, rose, chocolate brown, or mother-of-pearl dials. Each dial version is also available with line indices, diamond indices, or Roman numerals. For the last several years, Rolex has also offered the Datejust 31 with floral motifs on the dial.

FAQs
Is the Rolex Datejust 31 a women's watch?
The Datejust 31 is primarily aimed at women. Its 31-mm diameter makes it perfect for slimmer wrists. Does this mean that men can't wear this watch? Not at all! In the end, you can and should wear whatever you want. However, the Datejust tends to look a little lost on larger wrists. Depending on the size of your wrist, the Datejust 36 might be the better option.
Is the Rolex Datejust 31 a good investment?
Like almost all Rolex watches, the Datejust 31 retains its value well. Certain variants and models even increased in value from between 8% and 23% over a two-year period from March 2022 to March 2024.
